The Docere Foundation
The Docere Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3)organization
founded in 1988 by James P. Tasto, MD. The purpose of the foundation
is to provide the financial backing necessary to fund research for
musculo-skeletal disorders. Specifically, we hope to find solutions
for problems related to arthritis, musculo-skeletal disease and
expedite rehabilitation from injury.
The decade from 2000-2010 has been declared
"The Decade of Bone and Joint Research". To support Bone and Joint
research, the Docere Foundation is expanding efforts to conduct
research, and provide advanced training for Orthopaedic Surgeons. We
hope to introduce improved surgical techniques and develop better
methodology for the treatment of sports injuries and other diseases
of the bones and joints.
The Program:
The Docere Foundation works in conjunction
with the University of California - San Diego Medical School. The
physicians (Fellows) rotate through five different orthopaedic
surgery offices throughout the county, they teach and train fellows
and they conduct research for publication. Nationally renoun
orthopaedic surgeons donate their time, money and facilities to
assist the Fellows in every way possible.
How You Can
Help:
Funding for medical research and
postgraduate training have been drastically cut with the onset of
managed care. In some areas programs have been canceled. It is the
goal of this Foundation to provide much needed funding for research
and education. You can help by making a one-time donation, becoming
part of our annual giving program or through estate planning. Every
dollar helps fund research and postgraduate training, and all
donations are tax deductible. If you would like to make a donation,
please send your contribution to:
