Dr. Leek is a native Californian. He completed his undergraduate education at UCSD with majors in both Chemical Engineering and Physiology, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. He attended the University of California, Irvine Medical School, completed his orthopedic residency at UCSD with an additional research year. He then went on to complete two fellowship programs, the first in sports medicine surgery here at San Diego Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, the second in hand and upper extremity surgery at the CV Starr Hand Surgery Center at St Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. His specialty training included minimally invasive techniques, arthroscopy, upper extremity trauma and complex reconstruction of the upper extremity, including joint arthroplasty. Dr. Leek has an interest in treating his patients with the most current and innovative methods.

Dr. Leek is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the North American Arthroscopy Association. He actively participates in research and teaching, and has also published several peer-reviewed articles and chapters in the orthopaedic literature. Dr. Leek has cared for high-level athletes and professional musicians in the treatment of sports and hand/upper extremity injuries.

Dr. Leek has lived most of his life by the ocean and is an avid surfer. He enjoys running and has been involved in charitable organizations to raise money through running marathons. He also enjoys international travel.
