Our Physical Therapy Staff

Shawn Hiatt, MPT
Shawn grew up in Santa Maria, California. He earned a tennis scholarship at the collegiate level. He went on to compete globally as a professional tennis player. In 2004, due to injuries that took him out of the sport, his passion for athletics led him to the field of physical therapy. He earned his Masters degree in Physical Therapy from California State University in Long Beach where he graduated with honors on the Dean’s list in 2007.

Shawn has a particular interest in orthopaedic outpatient rehabilitation, with a special interest in manual therapy techniques. He has attended additional post graduate training emphasizing manual therapy. Clinically, Shawn approaches physical therapy using various manual techniques: joint mobilization, manipulation, movement with mobilization, muscle energy techniques and soft tissue work, including active release. In addition, he gives patients therapeutic exercises to help them achieve their physical goals. In athletes, Shawn will work on sport specific training to enhance their overall performance. Shawn’s professional experience allows him to incorporate various treatment techniques. He provides rehabilitation to all patient populations including youth, athletes, and geriatrics. Shawn enjoys rehabilitating patients from surgery and athletic injuries to achieve their goals, return to their active lifestyles, and reach their full potential with recovery.

Shawn plans on continuing additional education in efforts to remain a leader in advanced physical therapy. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and continues to expand his interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation.
