The mission of the team at San Diego Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, Inc. is to provide outstanding orthopaedic care to patients of all ages and activity levels.   • James P. Tasto, M.D. is an internationally renowned surgeon in the field of arthroscopy and sports medicine. Dr. Tasto has published over (150) articles in peer-reviewed journals. He regularly speaks at medical conferences and orthopedic society meetings to teach cutting-edge sports medicine and advanced arthroscopic techniques to physicians and surgeons worldwide.
  • Michael A. Sirota, M.D. believes that every patient is an athlete, whether they are competing in the Olympics or simply trying to navigate the obstacle course of life. His goal is to provide the everyday athlete with the same care as the Olympian. He strives to ensure that all of his patients make informed decisions about their treatment options and choose the method, surgical or non-surgical, that will best fit their needs.
  • David J. Burnikel, M.D. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon whose primary focus is arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder disorders. 
  • Matthew C. Shillito, MD, is an expert surgeon with advanced training in upper extremity surgery including treatment of hand, wrist, and elbow fractures, degenerative and overuse conditions such as arthritis of the upper extremity and tendinitis, removal of masses around the hand and arm including ganglion cysts and other masses, peripheral nerve compression conditions such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, which cause pain, weakness, numbness and tingling of the hand, and Dupuytren’s contracture.
  • Alexandra E. Page, M.D. has specialized training and experience includes athletic injuries which may require ankle arthroscopy such as ongoing pain after ankle sprains, ankle instability, ankle and foot tendonitis. Dr. Page works actively on topics related to high value health care delivery and assuring all people have access to musculoskeletal (bone & joint) care. She speaks and writes nationally on the topics, frequently quoted in national publications.
